Director of Technology
About
15 years building what I now help others build.
Most organizations end up with technology that has piled up over the years rather than been planned. An access point from 2012. Devices nobody can manage remotely. Email that staff have learned to work around. Getting out of that situation takes someone who has already solved it, on a real-world budget, with a small team.
I built the technology foundation at my school over 15 years. Every decision was made under real constraints: limited staff, tight budgets, and a community that needs things to work. I bring that same approach to every engagement.
How it works
A quick call
We spend 30 minutes on the phone. You tell me what's broken, what's held together with duct tape, and what keeps coming up at staff meetings. I ask questions and get a clear sense of where things stand.
A site assessment
I come on-site or connect remotely and look at the actual state of things: network, devices, email, management systems. You get a plain-language summary of what I find and what I'd recommend.
We get to work
We agree on scope, timeline, and what success looks like. Then I show up and do the work. No subcontractors, no account managers. You work directly with me, start to finish.
Case Studies
Device Fleet, Finally Under Control
400 iPads enrolled by hand. New devices took days to reach classrooms. Apps distributed by emailing staff instructions.
Migrated to Mosyle MDM over a single summer: ABM integration, zero-touch enrollment, automated app deployment, and remote lock and wipe. Teachers stopped waiting on IT for routine setup tasks.
New devices go from box to classroom-ready without touching IT. Zero manual re-enrollments since launch.
WiFi That Handles a Full Building
Consumer-grade routers couldn't keep up with 1:1 classrooms. Video calls dropped. Testing sessions failed. IT got blamed.
Designed and installed a high-density wireless system with proper access point placement, VLAN segmentation for staff and student traffic, and a managed controller with visibility into every connected device.
Zero outage complaints since installation. 30+ concurrent devices per classroom without performance issues.
Email & Collaboration Modernized
Staff of 60 on a hosted Exchange server. No shared calendars, no collaboration tools, and backups nobody had tested in years.
Planned and executed a migration to Google Workspace: email, calendars, shared drives. Trained staff in two group sessions and provided support through the first two weeks of daily use.
Staff adopted it within two weeks. The old server was decommissioned on schedule with no data loss.
Schools are moving to MacBook Neo. Is your MDM ready?
Apple's MacBook Neo is gaining ground in K-12 classrooms, and schools that ran Chromebook programs are now managing a mixed fleet — or making the full switch. The hardware is excellent. The challenge is that macOS MDM is not Chromebook management, and schools that skip the setup work quickly run into security gaps, compliance issues, and devices staff don't know how to use.
I'm offering free 30-minute MDM readiness assessments for schools planning a MacBook Neo deployment. We'll look at your current management setup, identify the gaps, and map out what a clean rollout looks like before you buy the first device.
